In the last years, there have been a great investment and efforts to improve the energy efficiency in the facilities. One of the purposes of those efforts is to reduce the electrical energy consumption, which experiments an important increase that will keep up in the future. The principal responsible of this increase in the electrical consumption is caused by the buildings of sector services, which increases exponentially due to the demands regarding thermal and visual comfort, security, accommodation…which in the end need many electrical equipment.

Besides, the high power consumption causes negative effects in the environment due to the increase of CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gasses and contaminant particles. For that reason, the governments are creating new policies to encourage energy saving and the efficient and rational use of the energy, resulting in savings in the electric bill.

In this situation, the consumers of electricity should adopt strategies to improve energy efficiency and manage the demand of electric power in their devices and facilities. One of the most important tasks before management and decision making is monitoring the electrical energy consumption. It is impossible to manage an electricity facility properly if information about it is not previously available. Therefore is necessary to measure, acquire, store, visualize and analyze the set of electricity variables in the facility.

With the data obtained from the measurement equipment, the points of biggest consumption in a certain commercial or industrial activity can be detected. This might lead to a reduction of consumption that can allow bigger profit margins in the corresponding activity and, therefore, increase the competitiveness in the market.

The IAF (Institute of Automatic Control and Manufacturing), through the Remote Laboratory of Automatic Control, has the whole range of energy monitoring and control equipment manufactured by Schneider-Electric available to perform training, practices, test and remote or local demonstrations in the field of energetic efficiency.

Content

  • Electric meters: oriented to billing and measurement of Voltage, Current, Power, Frequency, Energy, THD…
  • Modbus gateways-TCP/IP: it allows to access the Modbus network from the TCP/IP network. They can be part of the network analyzers or meters, or be external. They provide a web server for energy monitoring.
  • Circuit breakers: protect the elements in the electric circuit of diverse factors like shortages, overloads…
  • Differential switch(RCD): guarantee the security in the electric circuit through the protection of earth leakage.
  • Monitoring equipment: allow to visualize data of an electric system and interact with the physical elements to make simple control task.

Power Logic ION 7650
It’s a network analyzer design for monitoring the quality of energy. The application it’s really usefull for high, medium and low Voltage network and for distribution network in industrial and service sector facilities. Power Logic ION 7650 is a programmable device with high precision (0.2S class) and complies with quality UNE 50169. This product is an A class based on 61000-4-30 and has multiple options of communication.


iRIO
It’s an advanced controller with allow to get data from different devices (breakers, energy meters, water and gas meters, temperature meters…) to store it locally and perform a treatment of this data.


Power Logic PM820
The PowerLogic PM820 has the measurement capabilities to monitor an electric installation in a compact unit 96 x96 mm. The screen of the potentiometer allow to see the three phases and the neutral at the same time, besides it has a communication port RS-485, digintal Input, digital Output, THD meter and alarms. Also it has a personal record and harmonic measures of current and voltage individually.

PASARELA EGX300
The EGX300 is a device that has a transparent interface between the networks based on Ethernet and the field devices. The field devices include meters, monitors, protection relays, PLC, trip unitys, motor controls and other devices which communicate by Modbus, JBUS or PowerLogic protocol.
